Pitching Stories for Radio
Instructor-Led Training
Tools Used: Google Slides, Google Docs
Overview
This training was designed in collaboration with a guest lecturer working in a graduate school of journalism located at a University of California campus. Learners are primarily young professionals with limited experience in print journalism, though some have held internships in the public radio space. This training fits within a introduction to audio journalism course, and focuses primarily on the skill of pitching. Learners will build on what they know about pitching for print, and build on those skills. The training includes discussions and group work, but culminates with each student producing a practice pitch for radio.
